Start with Some Apps

Not a food post ;)

Yes New York City is expensive. Yes New York City is crowded. But in those crowds contain some of the most talented and creative people in the world (It took me a while, don’t think for a second I didn’t spend all my money on Ubers until I was forced to figure out the subway.) It’s all about getting creative and managing the most of your time and money. Another benefit of living in NYC is that when people have a big idea, they normally test it out in an area with a large population so they can reach the most people. There are constantly new apps being created and deals that benefit everyday life. Research is important. There are a couple of amazing apps that help me with everyday life in NYC

1. CLARITY MONEY

Clarity Money is a savings app that you hook up all your bank accounts/credit cards to and it comes up with all sorts of data about your spending. It tracks how much debt your in, plans to pay it off, and even categorizes what exactly you spend your money on. The best thing about this app is it has a free savings account sign up with Marc Goldman Sacs Bank. You can set up a certain amount, even if it’s $5, to be put in a savings account each week. You don’t realize how quickly that money can add up. It’s been a big eye opener for me on how I spend my money

2. RITUAL

Rituals is a relatively new food app that allows you to order on your phone, skip any line and pick it up when it’s ready. There’s a rewards program and lots of ways to receive points leading to free meals and deals all in your area. It locates where you are, lists the restaurants that participate, order what you want (use Apple Pay to make the process even faster) and then gives you live text updates on when to pick up your order. The best part is skipping any line, and If you live in NYC you know how long lines during lunch can get.

3. NYC TRANSIT APP

This one’s obvious, and everyone who lives in NYC normally has this app. It’s helpful of course to show different routes to get around, but it’s the most beneficial transportation app because it lets you know when there will be delays. And there are lots, and lots, AND LOTS of delays.

4. FEVER

Fever is more of an entertainment app. There are so many events going on in the city, it can be overwhelming. This app lists a ton of events that are going on all within a certain radius that you select, and the prices. It allows you to buy tickets in advance as well. Anything from museum openings, to brunch for two, to boat rides around the city are listed on here. The best feature in this app is filtering to see what events are free. So again, if you’re on a budget and want to explore, you’d be surprised how many events don’t require money.
